Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap

I never thought I'd be the one to make anything on my own- let alone liquid laundry soap! I am very thankful that in a Personal Enrichment Night w/ my Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) the lesson was on how to make your own laundry soap. Well that has been some time ago almost a year and now that's all I use! It's great and inexpensive to make- WAHOO!!! Oh it's not only great for your laundry or pocket book but for those who have high efficiency washers, sensitive skin, allergies and for newborn babies. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do! It equals out to be $ 0.03 or less per load.
Things you'll need to make liquid laundry soap:
20 Mule Team Borax
Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (NOT BAKING SODA)
Fels-Naptha
6 cups of warm water
2 gallon bucket
measuring cup (1/3 c. will do)
Large pan for stove top
Large measuring cup
Large slotted spoon to stir with
3 snack size baggies
Directions:
Open Fels-Naptha bar cut it into 3 equal pieces, grate each portion of soap w/ a fine cheese grater and put each portion of grated soap in the little baggie and put aside. Put lg. pan on stove top and turn heat on med/high and add 6 cups of hot water w/ your large measuring cup. Then add your 1/2 c. of WASHING SODA and 1/2 c. of 20 Mule Team Borax and stir w/ large slotted spoon until dissolved- then add ONE snack baggie of grated Fels-Naptha soap and continue stirring until all soap is dissolved. Add finished soap mix to a 2 gallon bucket and add 2 gallons of water and stir w/ large slotted spoon all ingredients well then place lid on bucket and let set for at least 1 hour or more before using. If soap mixture gets a little jelly like don't worry you did nothing wrong just add one cup of HOT water and stir. The finer you grate the soap the chances are the better your soap turns out. Use your spare or extra 1/3 c. measuring cup to add your new liquid laundry soap to your wash.
Happy Laundering
