BABY BOOM

That's right folks! I just about believe that all of my friends are pregnant and ready to deliver. After sewing up a storm I thought I'd take a little break. I thought what a great way to celebrate Baby and New Momma is to make them a cake...a diaper cake that is!

Supplies Needed:

*(1 pkg of 50) huggies/pampers newborn to size 1 diapers ($8.00 Dollar General)
*(1) pkg of clear hair rubber bands ($1.50 Dollar General)
*3 spools of ribbon: (1) Medium solid ribbon roll (1) Large roll of printed ribbon (1) Large roll of solid ribbon. (Most ribbon at Target/Wal-Mart/Jo Ann's Fabric's they run the same price around $1.75-$2 for solid and $3 and up for printed/pattered ribbon-if your at Jo Ann's they usually have coupons in their circular right as you walk in the door so WOOHOO savings!!!)
*(1)pkg of stick pins (Jo Ann's/Wal-Mart $1.97-$2.00)
*(1)hot glue gun and glue sticks (Wal-Mart $2.97 for sm. craft hot glue gun and $1.97 for a bag of 300 glue sticks, Jo Ann's Fabric $ 4.99 for a sm craft hot glue gun and $ 2.99 for a bag of 400-500 glue sticks-again USE THE COUPONS!!!)
(1) plastic dinner plate (pkg of 4 at Wal-Mart/Target/Dollar Tree $1)
Take out diapers from pkg and start rolling them up as tight as possible and slip on one clear hair band near the center of the roll (repeat this step until all diapers are rolled up)
*Item might already be in your possession the cost will be a lot less for the diaper cake creation*

Take about 3-5 and group them together and slip on a clear rubber band around them to help secure a good base/foundation. Then start filling in the "cake" with the diapers. When you've finished each tear place a dop of hot glue to bottom of each layer so the "cake" will not look like the Leaning Tower of Diapers!

Take your large spool of solid ribbon and measure the circumference of the "cake" them trim ribbon accordingly. Take your large spool of printed ribbon as well as the medium solid ribbon and do the same. When done secure each end of ribbon with a stick pin (2) should be enough on each layer.
According to what gender the child is depends on what you or the receiving parent might choose. So the extras are up in the air.
When finished with the "cake" deliver it to the expectant mother and she will absolutely love it!
